Description
Participants roll down a gentle slope, across
level ground or on water in a large transparent ball.
Harness zorbing involves one or two people
being harnessed inside the ball.
Hydro zorbing involves one to three
participants sitting, without a harness, inside the ball with a
small amount of water while the ball rotates around them.
Water walking involves being zipped into an inflated ball and
floated on a body of water.

An Information and Consent
for Event/Activity form is required to
participate in this activity.
Who can
participate?
Harness zorbing is open to those aged ten and
over.
Hydro zorbing is open to those aged seven and
over.
Some providers may have age, height or weight
restrictions.
Ratio of adults to
girls
Normal ratios for activities away from the
meeting place are required.

Regulations
- The Leader must ensure that all participants
under the age of 18 have written permission to take part from an
adult with parental responsibility.
- The local Commissioner must be informed that
the activity is taking place.
- Carry out a risk
assessment for the activity.
- When using a commercial activity provider,
ensure it is reputable. You can ask your local Outdoor Activities
Adviser to recommend an approved provider.
Instructor
qualifications
Not applicable.
If water walking, a suitably qualified lifeguard must be
present.
Useful
information
Check weather forecasts, as zorbing could
become unsafe if there are extreme weather conditions or wind
speeds exceeding 20mph.
For harness zorbing, ensure each participant
brings a spare pair of socks and wears clothes suitable for the
outdoors.
For hydro zorbing and water walking, ensure
each participant brings a change of clothes and a towel.
