Description

Swimming whilst wearing a snorkel which allows participants to breathe whilst viewing what is under the surface of the water.

 

Forms

An Information and Consent for Event/Activity form is required to participate in this activity.

The appropriate PADI or BSAC health forms must also be completed before the activity takes place.

 

Who can participate?

Open to all.

Some activity providers have their own age, height and weight restrictions.

Participants must be able to:

  • swim 50 metres
  • keep afloat for five minutes in the clothes normally worn for the activity.
 

Ratio of adults to girls

Normal ratios for activities away from the meeting place are required.   Guiding Manual ratios

Swimming in purpose-built pools.

 

Instructor qualifications

The instructor must hold one of the following  qualifications:

  • BSAC Snorkelling Instructor
  • BSAC Open Water Instructor (Snorkelling).
  • An appropriate PADI qualification for the water type.

In purpose-built swimming pools there must be one instructor to every 12 participants.

In open water there must be one instructor to every six participants.
