Useful information

Before the session starts, ensure that all participants are clearly briefed on:

  • boundaries
  • the rules of the centre
  • where to meet in the event of evacuation of the building.

Commercial providers provide bowling shoes. For comfort and hygiene, ensure that all participants wear a pair of socks.

Bowling can be enjoyed by young players and beginners. Bowling centres often have a ‘chute’ for younger players to bowl their ball down instead of using their arm. For beginners, barriers can be raised which stop the balls going down the gutters without scoring any points.

Ensure that the participant uses the correct weight ball for their size. They are more likely to injure themselves if they try to roll a ball that is too heavy.
